Vanguard Way // A Gruppo Architects

This is a single family residence characterized by a glazed living pavilion at ground level, with bedrooms housed in a floating mass above. Light monitors, whose profile is revealed by the West building facade, can be seen along Vanguard Way and bring natural ambient light into the main spaces of the residence. Carefully placed windows along the facade at the upper level provide framed views of the surrounding tree canopies and Dallas skyline beyond. The main entry along Vanguard Way connects an entrance court to the neighborhood walkway. This forecourt, covered by the floating mass above, is enclosed by exterior garden walls outfitted with a large operable section which can be closed for privacy from the sometimes busy activities on the street.
