Sherwood Lane // Malone Maxwell Dennehy Architects

The Cutrona House was designed as the primary residence for an active family of four. The objective was to create an open and resilient home that could accommodate large social gatherings and entertaining, especially with children and teens. The design placed an emphasis on energy efficiency by following LEED standards and incorporated best practices for design efficiency and sustainability. Much of the millwork and many of the doors and cabinets were salvaged from the Lupe Murchison estate prior to its demolition and repurposed for use in the house. The theme of simplicity and economy was executed through the repetitious use of building elements. With those criteria in mind, the plan diagram, palette of materials, and methods of construction were selected to optimize the home's performance while providing a durable and sustainable environment for active family life.
